Tim Chiasson: Camp Notes: Is Burns moving back to forward? Marleau and Thornton give thoughts, training camp lines and Brent Burns may be going back to forward.

I can't help but feel, especially reading this, that the brass in San Jose-in an attempt to bolster leadership & accountability on their team- have unleashed a cancer in the locker room. While the roster is loaded with talent, that, too is the case in every other western conference team. I don't see this past summers moves and lack thereof doing anything but diminishing a pretty solid playoff team.

In a way Doug Wilson got what he wanted, nobody is feeling comfortable. Hopefully it pans out well.

He definitely drew the ire of Thornton, that's for sure.

Seems that way. In you's guys opinions, if push came to shove , would ownership gas the GM before making a bad trade to move Jumbo?

Honestly I didn't feel like Burns was that good as a forward. You look at lower level players like Cheechoo and Setoguchi who played with him and managed 30 - 50 goals with Thornton.

I definitely agree with Thornton that they do have the talent on the Roster to win but they just always seem to fall short when it matters. Personally I think they need an upgrade in goal over Neimi and they need an impact player, someone who brings energy to the team when things are looking down, someone who gives 100% no matter what the score is.

Doug Wilson made his bed with this team and now he has to sleep in it. I don't see either player waiving their NTC/NMC.

Considering this whole mess is Wilson's doing I think they'd dump Wilson over Thornton. Thornton is up there in age but you defenitaley have a 4-5 year window with him in terms of time before he retires. I think he can play until 39-40

Agreed. Despite the criticism, Thornton is still a top 20 Forward in this league, still drives the Sharks IMO.

Answer is no. Team owner has publicly stated that DW has his full support with any of his decisions from here forward. I do not believe Sharks ownership would can the GM for a aging veteran who has already lost a few steps in his game.

Kind of a risky play tho isn't it? Not that I see it as an issue, Joes a pro, but an upset and unhappy Joe that holds all the cards with a NMC can easily pull a Spezza.no big deal if he's viewed as an expendable asset that already lost a few steps, pretty sure a lot of GM's would otherwise pay a high price.

Yeah i completely agree with you. I know even with his few steps lost he is still in the top of the league, that's exactly the thing though. Me as a sharks fan i feel jumbo has gotten us as far as he ever will ( would love to be proved wrong BTW ) and i would rather see him dealt now before he loses more value. I really like the idea of a rebuild that way we can get some top 10 picks which he have not had in a long time. So i would not really be opposed to a Joe Thornton Saga here is San Jose along with a Patty marleau even though i do not believe DW necessarily wants to trade patty.

Big problem if Joe Doesn't waive his NMC. The Sharks are too good to get a top 10 pick, and even if he waives , is Joe going to a team that will finish near the bottom?

If joe and patty both decide to waive then possibly the sharks can be a non playoff team. unless couture really has a good season this year otherwise i think he will probably stay a 60 pt player. Pavelski is not getting any younger either and even though he is my favorite shark it would have been best to sell high on him. people have talked for years on when DW will finally have had enough and blow the team apart and rebuild and now that he is ready to trade both of them he cant cause he shot himself in the foot with those clauses. I know this is mostly a lot of wishful thinking on my behalf but the season has not started yet and maybe diminishing their ice time and scratch them here or there just enough to not raise any eyebrows, then they might be willing to part ways. I really think San Jose's future lies in Couture, Hertl, Goldobin, Nieto & Mueller and possibly Stalock. Being able to dumb jumbo and patty if they agree along with pav's for picks to stock up on the future. can't keep doing the same thing expecting different results, that's insanity.
Would love to give you guys Jumbo or Patty event though they would never go to EDM, Though i believe Jumbo would be the missing ingredient in Oil Nation

That he would be. He would be the perfect mentor for Leon Draisaitl, and make a big enough impact that I feel could possibly put us in the playoff's this year as well.

Would David Perron, Jeff Petry, Brandon Davidson/Dillon Simpson (D-Prospects) and a conditional 2015/16 first rounder (see Thomas Vanek trade) do the trick?

Honestly i would do it for Vladimir Tkachev , a 2015 1st & 2016 3rd.

or like Yak and a 2015 conditional 1st ( if playoffs get made ) for thornton and a 2015 conditional 2nd.

other than that we don't really need Perron and i would not be opposed to Petry. Idk if Nurse is asking too much because he is completely unproven and jumbo would most certain be a role model for Draisaitl and even RNH. They have a high chance for postseason with jumbo and If Scrivens and Schultz have their projected breakout years then they can be a real threat come April. if only Jumbo would go to a place the freezes over in the winter. If ek is right though in his podcast he says that the Thornton situation is not what it seems, that he would not be as opposed to a deal like its being played out to be. I really wished he would have approved the deal to Dallas assuming they could have used that pick to get Honka, DeAngelo or Milano.

Highly doubt we give up on Yak, and Nurse our big hope for a true #1 D-Man....so he aint going anywhere. But if Joe wasn't so above playing in Edmonton and was willing to waive, there is a deal there to be had, for sure.

yeah he seems to forget where he came from. Honestly i would go to EDM in a heartbeat to play. They are on the cusp of something truly special. I don't think they will have much of a in between phase, i think they will go straight to being a contender with a possibly deep run. The young firepower on that team is just to crazy. Dan Boyle would have been good for the oilers.

Thornton and Hall on the same line would be ridiculous. I don't think people realize how good Hallsy really is.
